Per new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the clemency request remain unclear, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her contacts to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
